This page provides details on the exercise known as a “Calf Raise”. This exercise improves leg strength and thus helps to generate stronger martial arts kicks. This exercise is also used by many martial arts students in order to stretch and avoid shin splints.
Martial artists also try to strengthen their calves in order to better manage the impact of an opponent’s kick (i.e. calf kick) against their calf muscles.
