Dynamic Warm-Up Routines

Dynamic Warm-Up Routines

This page covers a variety of dynamic warm-up exercises and stretching routines. Dynamic warm-up routines utilize a variety of dynamic stretches in order to loosen up muscles & tendons. In addition, dynamic warm-ups help martial arts students to slowly “ramp-up” and get physically ready for the more vigorous exercise conducted during martial arts training.

In contrast to traditional static stretches, dynamic stretches involve smooth and steady movement within a natural range of motion in order to warm-up muscles and tendons. These are not ballistic stretches. Dynamic stretches and warm-up exercises include Ankle BouncesHigh KneesLateral JumpsLeg Swings, etc.

All stretches should be supervised by a trained instructor in order to prevent injuries and to ensure the proper technique is utilized. For additional martial arts stretches targeting other areas of the body, please visit the main Martial Arts Stretches page.
