Lat Pulldown – Martial Arts Strength Training

This page looks at the strength training exercise known as a Lat Pulldown. This exercise is used by martial artists to improve their martial arts grappling strength and punching power.

Lat pulldowns work on back, shoulder and arm muscles. It gives extra emphasis to the large latissimus dorsi muscle found in a person’s back. The latissimus dorsi muscle is more commonly known as a “lat”.
