Multiplanar Lunges

Multiplanar Lunges – Dynamic Stretching Technique

This page provides details for the dynamic stretch known as Multiplanar Lunges. This stretch focuses on the hips, groin, quads, calves, etc. This dynamic stretch also helps to warm-up a person’s muscles and improve their balance.

This stretch should be done on both sides of the body (i.e. start with the right leg and when finished, the athlete should shift to the left leg). A multiplanar lunge stretch incorporates a forward lunge, sideways (lateral) lunge and backwards lunge.

All exercises and stretches should be supervised by a trained instructor in order to prevent injuries and to ensure the proper technique is utilized. For additional stretches and exercises, please visit the sections on Static Stretches and Dynamic Stretches.
