Peacock Pose – Yoga for Martial Arts

This page looks at the Yoga Peacock Pose (or Mayurasana). This is an advanced Yoga pose used to build arm and core strength. It also works on a person’s glutes and lower back muscles. Given the balance and strength required for this pose, the Yoga Peacock Pose can be a very difficult pose for beginners.

Pose Instructions

  • Place your wrists close together with your elbows placed in your abdomen
  • Begin leaning your weight onto your hands
  • Once you are balanced on your hands, fully extend your legs
  • Hold that position for a few breaths
