Plank Pose – Yoga for Martial Arts Flexibility & Strength
This page provides details for the Plank Pose. This Yoga exercise is used by martial arts students in order to strengthen their core muscles. Strong core (abdominal) muscles help to enhance a student’s grappling, kicking and punching power.
You will often find plank exercises used in traditional sports settings. More advanced and/or difficult versions of this exercise include the Side Plank Pose and Upward Plank Pose.
All stretches and exercises should be supervised by a trained instructor in order to prevent injuries and to ensure the proper technique is utilized.
