Posterior Shoulder Stretch or Crossover Arm Stretch
All stretches and exercises should be supervised by a trained instructor in order to prevent injuries and to ensure the proper technique is utilized. For information on other stretches (i.e. hamstring or triceps stretches), please visit the main Martial Arts Stretching section.
Instructions for Stretch
- Put one arm out forward.
- With your other arm, grab the arm by the triceps and pull it across your chest.
- Hold for 30 seconds and then repeat this stretch with your other arm.
- This stretch works on the muscles in the back of your shoulder (posterior deltoids).
