Shorinji-Ryu Kata – Naihanchin

This page provides details on the Shorinji-Ryu Kata – Naihanchin. The Naihanchin (Naihanchi) kata is often one of the first katas taught in Shorinji-Ryu Kenkokan Karate.

Shorinji-Ryu Kenkokan Karate was founded in 194os by Kaiso Masayoshi Kori Hisataka. Chinto, Kusanku, Naihanchin, Nijushiho and Sanchin were the original katas used by Kori Hisataka. Further katas were added to the style’s curriculum later by his son. Be aware that many Shorinji-Ryu Kenkokan schools only practice some of these kata. In addition, some Shorinji-Ryu Kenkokan schools “borrow” kata from other Karate styles.
