Wado-Ryu Idori No Kata

Wado-Ryu Idori No Kata – Kneeling Kata

This page provides details on Wado-Ryu – Idori No Kata. This is a paired kata (two student kata) used in Wado-Ryu Karate.

Wado-Ryu – Idori No Kata focuses on kneeling techniques (Idori) and uses an attacker and a defender. This kata was designed to teach students how to defend themselves when in a traditional Japanese seated (kneeling) position. Kneeling or seated positions are often called either Idori or Seiza (i.e. Seiza Waza) in Japanese martial arts.

Below are videos demonstrating the first four segments of Idori No Kata. For other kata (i.e. Wado-Ryu Pinan Nidan), please visit the main Wado-Ryu Katas section.
