Yumi – Japanese Bow

Yumi is the bow used in Japanese martial arts such as Kyudo. It is also used in the form of Kyujutsu at many Bujutsu and Ninjutsu schools.

The Yumi differs from the conventional western bow in the fact that it is asymmetrical and has a higher top part of the bow and lower bottom end. The Bow was along with the Katana one of the primary weapons of the Samurai as such Kyujutsu was a key part of most Bujutsu Ryu.
