Rashomon – Samurai Movie

Rashomon is a 1950 samurai “physiological” thriller. It looks at the murder of a samurai from a number of different perspectives (i.e. the view from the bandit, wife, woodcutter, etc.). This film was directed by Akira Kurosawa and stars Toshiro Mifune.

This movie is considered to be one of the best Japanese movies ever made. In addition, the movie review website Rotten Tomatoes gives this movie a score of 98 out of 100. They also state Rashomon is “One of legendary director Akira Kurosawa’s most acclaimed films”.
