This page provides details for the Tai Chi 13 form (ch’uan). This form is used in Yang-style Tai Chi and is also known as the “short form”. Forms are traditionally used to teach offensive and defensive martial arts techniques (i.e. kicks and punches). They are also used to teach balance, coordination, etc.
Nevertheless, slower Tai Chi forms are also used for relaxation, mediation, stretching, more gentle exercises, etc. For additional information on other Tai Chi forms, please visit the main Tai Chi Forms (Ch’uan) section.
For the forms of other martial arts (i.e. Karate and Taekwondo), please visit Black Belt Wiki’s main Kata & Forms section.
