Wing Chun Form – Muk Yan Jong

Wing Chun Form – Muk Yan Jong (Mook Yan Jong)

Muk Yan Jong (or the Wooden Dummy Form) is the fourth form taught in Wing Chun. This Wing Chun form is also known as Mook Yan Jong, Mook Yan Chong, etc. The Muk Yan Jong form uses a Wing Chun wooden striking dummy. However, please be aware that the movements used in this form can vary between Wing Chun schools.

According to the Samuel Kwok Wing Chun Association, the benefits of learning Muk Yan Jong include “Improves Yiu Ma (power from the waist)”, “Teaches the student the correct distance”, “Conditioning of the hands and arms”, etc.

For other forms, please visit the main Wing Chun Forms section. If you are looking for forms from other martial arts styles (i.e. the kata of Shotokan Karate), please visit Black Belt Wiki’s main Kata & Forms section.
