Shogun – Samurai Movie

Shogun is a 1980 film centered around a shipwrecked English sailor who becomes a samurai. This movie was filmed as a TV miniseries and it was one of the most popular in television history. Shogun was based on a book by James Clavell.

After the shipwreck, the Englishman struggles with the strange customs of Japan. However, he eventually learns the ways of Japan and becomes a trusted retainer and samurai. Over the course of the movie, he helps Lord Toranga to become Shogun. The English navigator was played by Richard Chamberlain. Lord Toranga was played by the legendary Toshiro Mifune (who starred in classic movies such as the Seven Samurai and Yojimbo).
